When the store network is unstable, whether transactions can still be carried out needs to be determined based on payment, inventory and business risks. Offline mode cannot promise that all functions will be available without limit, nor can it treat local display success as online payment has been confirmed. The plan should describe which operations are allowed to be staged, which must be online, and how to check for conflicts after recovery.

Start from demand

Offline records use unique transaction identifiers to save necessary order snapshots and equipment information. After recovery, they will be uploaded in order and deduplicated. The payment results are confirmed through actual channels, and no manual checks are used to pretend payment has been made. There is a delay in synchronizing inventory temporary storage with the headquarters, employees can see the current status, and special transactions are processed according to established limits. Local data is saved safely, and there are corresponding processing rules when exiting or losing the device.

Things that should be paid attention to in the design

For example, when the network is interrupted, the shopping list can be kept, and after the network is restored, the activity price and inventory can be rechecked before completing the transaction. In some cases where payment has been confirmed but the order submission fails, the account will be subject to reconciliation and the cashier will not be allowed to charge again directly. Specific offline capabilities need to be verified under actual equipment and payment channel conditions.

Check the processing results item by item

  • Accept simulated network disconnection, restart, repeated supplementary transmission and headquarters status change, and check whether orders are lost or repeated deductions are made.
  • The background displays pending synchronization, received and conflict pending processing. Restoring the network does not mean that everything is completed.
  • Check payment and order differences on a daily basis and record the processing results.
  • The offline solution provides a reliable recovery path, but the key is that each transaction can ultimately be checked and explained.

Check the processing results

When offline recovery encounters price changes, personnel will be prompted to check according to the predetermined processing rules, and the amount that has been confirmed by the customer cannot be changed quietly. Abnormal transactions retain the original input and subsequent results, making it easier for customer service to explain the changes and process necessary corrections.
