Booking trends and occupancy statistics answer different questions. Orders span multiple dates from creation to check-in, and if the chart uses the same time field but uses different names, it’s easy to interpret the numbers inconsistently between departments.

Statistical objects

Make it clear whether the statistics include creation of orders, confirmed orders or actual check-ins. Different subjects answer different questions, and mixed statistics can make channel performance and room usage difficult to interpret.

Time dimension

The order creation date, planned check-in date and actual service date should be kept separately. How orders modified or canceled across days are included in the trend chart needs to be clearly stated in the indicator description.

View details

The trend chart should provide a query entry for the corresponding record and display the data update time. When checking for exceptions, first check the status and source. Operation analysis should be combined with the company’s actual business to avoid making conclusions based on just one picture.

Scenario verification

For example, the same reservation will enter order statistics on the day of creation and reception statistics on the day of check-in; any changes in views after cancellation need to be written into the indicator caliber. This allows different departments to discuss the same facts when looking at the data.

Specific verification method

Prepare orders created at the end of the month and checked in the next month, and check the ownership of the two types of reports respectively; check the rules according to which indicators change after cancellation; expand the total check order list; when switching time intervals, the page should retain the current indicator object and time definition at the same time.

Business indicators should explain the statistical objects, status and time basis. Bookings and actual visits can be displayed side by side, but each needs to have expandable details to explain the differences between the numbers.
