Supplier shipping notices, logistics in-transit records, and warehouse receipts may all describe the same batch of materials. If supply is included separately, false sufficient inventory will appear on the purchasing board. The system needs to clarify the status migration of materials from planning to receipt, rather than directly adding up different sources.
After the purchase order is issued, the supplier may promise to deliver in batches or may adjust the date multiple times. Saving only the last delivery date will make it impossible for procurement to distinguish between the original commitment and the current arrangement. Delivery confirmation needs to be an independent collaboration record and associated with the order line.
Sales forecasts reflect expectations, and purchasing plans represent arrangements prepared for execution. Automatically converting forecasts into orders allows unconfirmed changes to flow directly into the supply chain. The system should allow comparison of forecast versions and let planners know which requirements have been confirmed.
If the supplier file only has a name and phone number, procurement still needs to dig through contracts, delivery records, and evaluation forms. The supply chain system should use files as a collaboration portal, which not only retains basic information, but also explains the current scope of cooperation and the information that needs to be supplemented.
The total amount of inventory is not equal to the quantity that can be sold or produced. If pending, blocked, and allocated inventory are mixed together, reports will overstate availability. WMS analysis must clearly define the status range and time interval, so that report numbers can be mutually explained with on-site queries.
After sending instructions to the conveying equipment, the system cannot immediately assume that the goods have arrived. Device reception, start execution and execution completion are different states. WMS device docking needs to clarify the relationship between business tasks and device instructions, and reserve the position for manual takeover in case of exceptions.
After picking is completed, the goods still need to be sorted, packed and handed over. When multiple orders are processed on the same workstation, packing errors may occur at the last step. WMS outbound review should correlate the order, packaging container and actual scan results, rather than just confirming that the order has been picked.
The warehouse move may seem like just changing a warehouse location, but only part of the quantity may be moved on site, or the goods may be placed in an adjacent location. Only the target location is updated, and the intermediate process will be lost. The WMS library transfer task should be able to track the steps from source extraction to target confirmation.
Inventory with a shelf life cannot be selected only based on the storage time. Goods that arrive later may expire earlier, and customers may also require a certain remaining validity period. WMS needs to combine outbound rules and customer restrictions to discover batches that do not meet the requirements during the distribution stage.
Full warehouse inventory needs to be arranged centrally, but daily differences may accumulate between two inventory counts. Cycle counting can be checked step by step by location or material, but the entry and exit of the warehouse during the inventory must be processed, otherwise the physical objects seen by the counter and the system cut-off quantity are not at the same point in time.
Combining a large number of orders into one wave does not necessarily reduce picking time. Order cut-off time, warehouse area, product characteristics and review capabilities will all affect grouping. WMS wave design needs to consider both picking and subsequent packaging to avoid centralized completion of the front stage and accumulation and waiting in the back stage.
Successful barcode scanning only means that the code has been recognized, but it does not mean that the goods, quantities and batches are correct. Supplier labels may have missing fields or may use old packaging. The WMS receipt page should display the material information that needs to be confirmed, allowing differences to be processed instead of being recorded uniformly.
