Hotel room status may be updated jointly by the front desk, room service and ordering systems. When the same room displays different statuses on different pages, you usually need to check the status meaning and update responsibility first, and then adjust the visual layout and color.
Resource modeling
Separate room types, rooms and inventory rules, and first determine whether reservations are allocated by room type or directly specify the room. The two methods correspond to different inventory calculation and room adjustment processes, and cannot be decided temporarily after the interface is completed.
Status definition
Status such as pending check-in, in use, pending arrangement and deactivation need to have clear trigger conditions. The front desk and service positions focus on different information, but they should share consistent resource facts to avoid maintaining a set of statuses on different pages.
Conflict reminder
When modifying the room status or reservation date, check the relevant occupancy records. The conflict prompt should indicate which order affects the current operation, rather than just popping up a shortage of inventory, allowing staff to continue checking and processing.
Scenario verification
You can simulate a room returning from deactivation to availability, and then associate a reservation to check whether the room status is consistent with the order occupancy. The connection between resource status and business orders is an important part that needs to be verified in addition to the room status page.
Specific verification method
Deactivate the room and try to accept new reservations, and check whether the occupancy is blocked according to the rules; associate the order after it is restored and check the date range; cancel the order and then query the room status to confirm the release of resources; when updating the room status, check whether the existing order has been changed by mistake.
The room status map should reflect verifiable resource facts. After the status name is determined, it is also necessary to explain which positions and actions can change the status, so that the front desk and room service can arrange work based on the same information.
